I thought FTA stood for FREE-TO-AIR and as long as they aren't providing the hackware what can the US or the EU say about it. I read somewhere about NDS/Europe going after DreamBox trying to shut them down and even trying to leverage IBM to not provide CPU's to DreamBox. You got to love these governing body’s totally controlling our market place and aiding certain big businesses. I really would like to have the DreamBox DM8000-S it looks very sweet but at almost $1000 I might look at the CW-3000HD & Genpix SkyWalker CW3K which is almost half the price and is a as well. It's no wonder why DreamBox is considered the best they are the most expensive by at least double everyone else’s price. They maybe worth the extra expense, I'm not sure since I haven't played with one but if someone else has compared them side-by-side please chime in.

I do like the Antenna control the DreamBox provides. I have a DM500 (dreambox), a coolsat 4000pro, and a pansat 3500sd.

Although some of the boxes have been out for a while, they still do the trick. Coolsat 4000 has always had trouble with EPG (electronic program guide).

Could only get 1 hr's worth of EPG. Pansat is nice, but not many options. My dm500, the best. 12 hr's EPG, sometimes 7 days EPG, options for many, many skins. As for price, havn't checked, but last I heard was you could purchase this box for $200.00us.

Dish Network lost me permanently when I fell behind 2-3 months in payments because I was broke. They sent the UPS man with some boxes for me to pack my equipment and ship it back. I looked at my budget and decided I could afford to catch back up on my payments. I called Dish Network and they told me there was no way they could restore my service and that I had to send the receivers back before they would talk to me about getting Dish Network service again.
