Meanwhile, scientist Peter Tezla who works for Scrim Corporation has developed a world-class race over the legendary Highway 35. The highway was built years ago by technologically advanced aliens called the Acceleron Beings. This hazardous course offers a tempting challenge for race car champions like Kurt Wylde, Taro Kitano and Lani Tam. Vert joins the team of drivers after impressing Tezla with his skills and daredevil attitude.
Tezla provides the contestants with specialized vehicles like Desert Rat, Wave Ripper and Scorcher. However, the drivers will have to travel through a portal at 300 mph, straight into another dimension.
While racing through the first couple of laps, Vert helps Taro rescue Lani. One of the competitors in the race though is a saboteur hired by the greedy CLYP Corporation. Eventually, Tezla reveals that the fastest driver must retrieve the Wheel of Power, which sits atop a pyramid near the finish line, but CLYP wants to monopolize the Wheel's cheap source of energy and reap the profits. Wanting to win no matter what the cost, CLYP pays their driver to bomb the competition out of the running.
